realist painter
Stephan Brunner was
born in 1969 in Lyon (France). Stephan Brunner spent his childhood amid
the smell of the cooked linen's oil and the casein's glue of his father's
studio, observing the way to crush the colours and to stick the canvas.
His father, Egmont Brunner, has had a passion for painting since he was
15 and is today at 75 years old still devoted to this art... realist
painter . He needed several years to perfect an oil painting
technique inherited from the Flemish and Dutch masters of the XVIIth century.
His father as an adviser for new painting compositions appreciated Stephan.
Discreet and attentive, he mainly observed than questioned his father.
Realist painter
At 16 Stephan painted
his first still life, although it is his first painting, the years of
working with his father has prepared well and he feels he already knows
how to paint. He considers this experiment more like a game than a real
event in his life?

A small event just
4 years later, exposes a passion which has fuelled Stephans work
since . While studying law in the university of Lyon Stephan returns to
his family home for his summer holiday. As has been the case for many
years he prepares for his father an African still life the idea is to
create a scene from a sorcerer's hut. He uses a funeral mask and several
shells on a fabric background. But something is missing and suddenly he
imagines the subject completed with beautiful beetles.
