In the XVIth century, the quality of many of the paintings created an enormous
demand especially from the royalty, which made some of these artisan-painters
really famous.
Stephan once again seeks out the scientist wanting to know a more about his
work.
Stephan Brunner was born in 1969 in Lyon (France). Stephan Brunner spent his
childhood amid the smell of the cooked linen's oil and the casein's glue of
his father's studio, observing the way to crush the colours and to stick the
canvas.
His father, Egmont Brunner, has had a passion for painting since he was 15 and
is today at 75 years old still devoted to this art. He needed several years
to perfect an oil painting technique inherited from the Flemish and Dutch masters
of the XVIIth century.
His father as an adviser for new
painting compositions appreciated Stephan. Discreet and attentive, he mainly
observed than questioned his father.
While he ponders this thought and totally by chance as so often inspirations
arrive, he meets an entomologist living a few miles from the studio. He is entrusted
with two boxes of butterflies and beetles , fascinated by their splendour, he
finds exactly what he is looking. Inspired by these creations of nature
